The Lowdown
Three thousand years ago a treaty was signed to end a war between humans and elves. Exactly every one hundred years a Human Queen would be selected from Capton. She would have magic that could make plants grow, mend things and even befriend animals. It's been one hundred and one years, one year over the anniversary, and The Keepers of the Fade have not been able to find her and a sickness has spread throughout the village.
Luella is a nineteen year old herbalist, dedicated to her duty as the village's only healer. Lucky for her she's too old to be the Human Queen and has never noticed an ounce of magic coming from herself. When the Elf King shows up for the Human Queen, he shows up for her. It turns out her life has been a lie and she is now to marry the king, leave her world and move to his world of magic and danger. When she arrives, she realizes her world isn't the only one suffering and as feelings start to grow for King Eldas, she will have to choose between her duty and her heart?
Written from the point of view of Luella, first person.
The Feels
I really enjoyed this book. I feel like a lot of effort went into the back story and I appreciate it. I love that the author could come up with something so creative. Looking forward to her upcoming works.
