The Nightshade Society by Ellen Vandever - ARC

Updated: May 18, 2022

"We're in danger. Fix the vine. Follow the cards."

The Lowdown

I received an ARC of this book from the author, Ellen Vandever for an honest review.

Paige and her family picked up and moved to Ravenbrook, Georgia due to some unfortunate issues back home, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side. There's a reason her dad left Ravenbrook and a reason he never told her about their family history. Stories about her family that had spread faster than fire. The legend of witches, arson, belladonna poisonings and the infamous Glass Girls. Paige didn't really believe the ghost stories, at least not until she found a 60 year old tarot card with a riddle written on the back in purple ink. Paige takes on the task of uncovering the truth surrounding the deaths of her family, but the deeper she digs, the higher the body count and the murderer could be anyone.

There's only one way to find the truth. Follow the cards.

Written in third person POV.

The Feels

OH MY GOSH!!

My mind has been blown. I thought it would be good but this was awesome. I didn't even want to put it down. So much time and effort was definitely put into this book. I haven't read a mystery book in quite some time but this did it for me. The characters are well made and the backstory and detail is great. Her writing made me really hate someone intensely which I'm guessing was the purpose. As soon as I finished reading the book, in less than 2 minutes I bought the physical book on Amazon. I absolutely recommend this to all this mystery lovers out there. I truly can not wait for the next book of the series, cause this baby isn't over! Don't forget to check out the author and stay up date on her next book. Look below for your next great read!

Favorite Quotes:

"Oh yeah. Really special."

This speaks to my soul. I am fluent in sarcasm. (you have to read the book to get the context)

"I've heard it said that sweetness is the best way to hide poison, and I guess they're right."
